This is a whole house remodel with a 2 story room addition on the rear of the house. The house is located on Walton Row (off Pershing) in the Central West End.

Design & Architecture:

  • It is an historical house built at the turn of the last century(1900). The original family had only a short carriage ride to the 1904 World’s Fair. The home addition had to maintain the original architecture of the building, neighborhood and period. When the house was remodeled in the 1960’s in an attempt to modernize, they removed much of the original trim & millwork.
  • We started on the third floor and had the original architectural trim & millwork made at Gravois Planning Mill (who made it originally), refinished the hardwood floors, and remodeled the bathrooms installing marble tile floors, walls, showers, heavy frameless glass shower doors, and cabinetry, and new lighting.
  •  Then the addition was done on the rear of the house allowing for an expanded kitchen, second floor nursery and child’s room.
  • Finally the lower level was finished in the same fashion with stone tile floors, period millwork, cabinetry and an exquisite wine cellar in an original stone walled canned goods/ root cellar. The cellar door, racking and cabinetry was all mahogany.
  • All the windows on every floor were replaced with energy efficient Marvin wood windows.
