Meet the Team
Don Stockell, President
Don has been in the construction industry for 42 years. In 1976, he started as a brick & stone mason while attending St Louis Community College and the University of Missouri at St. Louis. He studied architecture, business, and construction related coursework. Within a few years Don became a foreman for the masonry company he worked for. Wanting to learn more about the industry, Don took work with a custom home builder in 1984, building executive and estate homes. He learned much from this experience about quality, detail, best building practices and workflows.
In 1986, the homebuilder he was working for retired and Don started Stockell General Contracting Inc. One of his first contracts was remodeling Algonquin Golf Club in Glendale MO. Don became known for his attention to detail and superb craftsmanship that he had acquired through his masonry and custom homebuilding experience. His business flourished as a result of many successful projects for the clientele and businesses associated with the Golf Club.
Through the years, Stockell General Contracting has built large and small custom homes, remodeled homes, built commercial retail spaces & offices, and has finished churches and libraries.
Don has a strong personal commitment to building quality, long lasting, energy efficient and healthy buildings while protecting the environment in the process.
Ken Rice
Director of Field Operations
Ken began his career as a framing carpenter before starting his own remodeling company and then running his own landscape supply business. Through his career, he gained extensive knowledge of both running a business and providing excellent customer service. Ken began at Stockell Custom Homes in 2017 as a Project Manager and has recently assumed the role of Director of Field Operations. He visits every job site frequently ensure every home is being built to our high quality standards.
Nathan Stockell
Project Manager & Carpenter
Nathan is a recent graduate of the University of Missouri St. Louis, where he studied secondary education. During his tenure with Stockell Homes, he has gained considerable knowledge of carpentry and project management, becoming well acquainted with every step of the building process. When he isn’t working or studying, Nathan enjoys all things outdoors, from hiking and mountain biking to bow hunting and fishing.
Sadie Smith
Director of Sales & Design
Sadie comes to Stockell Custom Homes with over 20 years experience in the Interior Design field. Before joining our team, Sadie worked for some of Chicago’s most prestigious design & construction firms. She has a prolific background in sales, marketing, consulting, spatial planning, custom furnishings and textiles. Her attention to detail and passion for authentic design has helped us create beautiful homes and remodels for our clients throughout the St. Louis area.
Sam Stockell
Business Manager
Sam graduated college in May of 2023 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, as well as a Minor in Economics, from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He subsequently joined the team in September of 2023. Sam manages day to day operations at Stockell Homes, including accounts payable & receivable, bookkeeping, marketing, website content & editing, as well as insurance & retirement administration.
Kaitlin Martin
Marketing & Social Media Manager
Kaitlin graduated from the University of Missouri St. Louis with a degree in Elementary Education. She worked as a kindergarten teacher before joining the Stockell Team in 2017. Kaitlin has experience in web design and marketing, and her work has been pivotal in allowing Stockell Custom Homes to grow as a business.
