About The Creve Coeur Community
With a notable history behind it, Creve Coeur (French for “Heartbreak”) was named after its lake. In its name from an old legend that details the love of an Indian Princess had acquired for an uninterested French fur trapper. After expressing her affection, and not receiving reciprocated feelings, it was said that she jumped from a ledge that overlooked the Lake. Afterward, the lake formed itself into a “broken heart,” leading to the naming of “Creve Coeur” Lake and the city.
